Top-tier RTX 5070 laptop!
Brilliant laptop. Fast! Sleek! Portable! Amazing screen that is clear and bright, and so smooth at 240hz! The gaming performance has been great on every game I’ve tried so far. The sound quality of the speakers is good. The cooling means business, with fans blowing air out of the sides and the back; but it can be loud if you crank them to the max. It was easy to set up, though there were a few updates that needed installing. The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth both work well, and I’ve had no issues with the USB ports or anything else. I would recommend this to anyone considering a laptop in this price-range.

Upgrade compatible to GEN 5 SSD and 96GB DDR5 RAM
Excellent mid-range laptop with upgrade capabilities.Short first review after 2 weeks.Have replaced the OEM supplied SK Hynix 1TB Gen 4 m.2 2230 SSD with a Samsung 9100 Pro 2TB Gen 5.0 m.2 2280 SSD and can CONFIRM it definitely does run at PCIe 5 x4. Please check the CrystalDiskMark tests screenshot.CrystalDiskMark v9 shows transfer speeds pretty close to the Samsung theoretical/advertised limits. I researched this thoroughly in advance of purchase and it was as clear as mud determining whether it would definitely support Gen 5.0 (online search AI failed to confirm it too). Most Dell forums are also very non-committal and state the OEM maximum “supported” RAM is 64GB (2 x 32GB), HOWEVER! I did check the Corsair RAM System Scanner and despite it advising Max capacity as 64GB – once I installed the Crucial Vengeance DDR5 48GB x2 5600, it recognised the RAM and reported the same (despite showing manufacturer unknown?)The additional benefit is that the Alienware Aurora16X actually DOES support 2x48GB DDR5 5600 – for a total of 96GB.Good luck trying to find any now though, at time of purchase in Sep 2025 96GB DDR5 (2 X 48GB) on Amazon was £205, now currently unavailable (Jan 2026) nearest is 96gb DDR5 5200 at over 800 quid!?Took a few (nervous) minutes to Boot/POST after removing the OEM-supplied 2x16GB SK Hynix (32GB) DDR5 RAM and replacing with a matched pair of Corsair Vengeance DDR5 5600 2x48GB SODIMM RAM.The Nvidia 5070 laptop variant GPU is admirable, though obviously would have preferred the 5070Ti but at the price point for the laptop, an expected compromise. Will add further 3D Mark screenshots of hardware and benchmarks soon to assist anyone thinking of potential purchase of the Alienware Aurora 16X.USB/Thunderbolt 4 @40GB/s for off board peripherals is decent though again Thunderbolt 5 @80GB/s would have given the laptop a competitive edge.I’ve added a Sabrent Thunderbolt 4 hub to provide additional true 40GB/s expansion (providing additional 3 x USB C & 1x USB a 5GB/s ports) as the 2x onboard USB A ports are limited to 5GB/s and the 2x USB C ports are 1x 10GB/s and 1x 40GB/s, I’ve connected the Sabrent Thunderbolt 4 hub to the Thunderbolt/USB C 40GB/s port, so far had no issues with downstream transfer to external WD myBook Duo and NVMe/USB C storage via the hub, so pass-through speeds remain optimal.

Love it
Looks just how I want a laptop to look. You can tell its of high quality. Haven’t used it lots but so far so good. Is fast and smooth. Is bright enough. Gets a little hot but not too bad. Would recommend for gamers or anyone who needs a fast laptop. Worth the money for me

Works well with Ubuntu/Windows
I’ve been using this laptop for a month, and overall, it’s been great. No complaints on performance. I dual-booted it with Ubuntu and Windows – both run and coexist well. The only minor downsides I noticed:- the power brick is huge.- the cable from the brick to the laptop isn’t detachable, so there’s no way to adjust its length.- the fingerprints are noticeable on the top lid.- the built-in camera is average (expected).- when closed, the lid slightly overhangs the base. That probably means when putting it in a bag, it’s better to place it with the back side down, so the lid isn’t bearing the pressure.

Powerful laptop
Great power from the laptop. I have the i9 and 5070gpu.Can play most games with ease. Does get very hot, but hasn’t seemed to be an issue (yet) Dell suggest this thing can run at 100° with no issues, but I tend to keep mine around the 80° mark. The battery is ok if you’re not gaming, but if you want to play a game, your battery will suffer. The screen is decent res and brightness, but, mine has started to get a very slight light bleed in the corners. You can see it quite clearly on boot up.
