Good addition to the echo range
Well made, good quality for the price as it was on offer at the time. Very easy to set up. Easy to use even for the elderly. Can operate your lights through it too. Good, clear quality image. Good sound quality. Can get in a few different colours for your own decor. Connects easily, although occasionally takes about 10 seconds before it responds or takes action.

Really good it is however a little bit slow at obeying commands apart from that it’s great love the surround sound and the YouTube videos and the touchscreen

Good sound quality but needs to kept quite a distance from any other amazon dot
Its good but could be better. Intermittently needs a restart as the clock stops and if you have it in a room next to a room with an Amazon dot, it doesn’t really work well. Good images though and nice sound quality

Excellent Smart Speaker
Only had a few weeks so don’t know the full capabilities, but from what I’ve seen so far it’s excellent and a big improvement on older models. Having the visual touchscreen is a benefit and at less than £50 I thought it was excellent value for money.I have also recently purchased a Tapo doorbell so will be interesting to see the cross functionality once connected to the Echo.I also bought another for a Christmas present for my mother as she thought it was great too, so very much recommend.

We love this. It works well, easy to set up, sounds great and kids love being able to watch things on it too.

Good for my use
I like showing my photos on this, setting alarms, timers and listening to the radio and checking the weather. A lot of what I ask it, it doesn’t know but that’s fine.

The newest gen model seems quite prone to defects
Like many other reviewers on here, the newest generation Echo Show 5 seems to be more prone to defects than previous models. It doesn’t work well, it is very slow to respond. The screen suffers from burn in. It’s hard to set up compared to any of the traditional (no screen) Echo devices. Instead of being able to set stuff up in the app, you have to do it on the little 5″ screen. I put mine under the TV so I kept having to go back to it to carry on the setup process. It’s not particularly responsive and I wonder if the processor or memory or both have been scaled back for this production run. It’s often on special offer but even then you’re probably paying £50 for a device that’s mostly going to serve adverts. I had mine for a week or two and every single day I had to unplug it and plug it back in as it froze up showing an advert or shopping suggestion (mostly noticed that the clock on the screen was still showing two hours ago). The bright adverts then burn into the screen. I repositioned the device away from the TV and reset it and set it up from scratch and it seemed to be working okay for a few hours then it froze again. If you delve deeply into the menus on the device you can turn off most of the shopping suggestions but it’s still going to regularly serve adverts up to you. I don’t think £50, the special offer price, is good value for money on a device that really doesn’t work very well and is just going to show ads all the time.Apart from the many faults before I eventually gave up and returned it, the speaker is very loud so if you’re looking for a smart speaker then the audio quality is fine. It did seem to keep resetting the volume to mega-high though of it’s own volition. I doubt Amazon are knowingly shipping a defective line of products, but it does seem that many reviewers on here have had issues with the newest generation when they had no problems with previous releases.

Overall a good way to listen to the radio or music services. The little screen is also very useful for pulling up recipes when you’re cooking. The downsides are that sometimes it randomly turns on and starts playing the radio station you last listened to and it doesn’t always respond to commands such as ‘Alexa Turn off’.
