Can see the door mat now
This model gives a much larger scope of view. I can see right down to the door mat now, whereas with my ‘Video Doorbell 3 Plus’ I couldn’t. Although the image is bright, I’m not convinced about clarity in comparison. The contrast is quite high and I think faces appear a little darker (like in the shadows).I think anything minor is still a good trade off to be able to have a much larger viewing area. I purchased at a good Black Friday price, otherwise I would have thought twice.If you want to see what’s on the floor by the door, this is actually a great Video Doorbell, otherwise I’d say buy the Video Doorbell 3 Plus.

Expensive for something that only lasts just over a year.
The doorbell used to work fine. Then, after about 18 months the battery went from 88% charge to completely dead. I tried contacting ring support and the adviser kept insisting that it was because the wifi RSSI was too high. Whilst I agree that a high RSSI will drain the battery faster, it won’t cause it to go from almost fully charged to completely dead instantly. There’s no warning that the battery needs charging, the doorbell just switches off. The customer adviser said that there was absolutely nothing he could do unless the RSSI is below 50. So now the only option I have to put the doorbell inside the house!

Good image but bad notifications
The image is nice, and at night you can see well. Only thing that was a massive disappointment is, if you’re in an area where you don’t have Internet coverage.. it would be okay if I didn’t get a notification on my phone but… not only did I not get the notification (because I was in a poor network coverage area) but the camera simply didn’t pick up nothing at all. It didn’t record, there’s no history of it. And I know my partner left the house within the time frame of me not having a good network coverage, therefore the camera didn’t pick up this. Which means, if I’m somewhere with poor network, apart from not receiving notifications, the camera simply won’t record anything- which doesn’t make sense. Whether my mobile phone has coverage away from home or not, it shouldn’t interfere with the function of the camera recording movement at home because it’s connect to the house wireless. That’s a big worry for me.
